On most sofas the seat foam gives up years before the frame or the fabric. If your covers are sound and the cushions have simply gone flat, lumpy or started to tip forward, new foam is the cheaper first step. We cut it from your old cushion, which is the most reliable pattern because it already matches the cover, and we recommend a grade based on the seat depth and how the sofa gets used. If the covers are worn through or the colour no longer suits the room, we can make new covers to the same shape, or recover the whole suite so the arms and backs match. The honest answer depends on the frame. If it is solid, a recover is usually worth doing; if it is a lightweight frame that has already started to creak, we will say so before you spend anything. Being ten minutes away changes what makes sense. A set of seat cushions fits in most car boots, and so does a dining chair or a footstool. Bring the old cushion in and we can check the foam with you, talk through firmness, and show you fabric in the showroom while you are here. Foam orders for domestic cushions are usually ready within a week. Dropping off is free; collection from Hyde is there for the pieces that are too big or too heavy to move yourself.

A matching set takes longer because every seat is stripped, checked and brought back to the same height and firmness, so the chairs sit level round the table.
