Forty minutes out, and honest about it

Macclesfield is the furthest point on this side of our patch. At around 40 minutes from Grosvenor Street, collection is priced by distance rather than at a flat Greater Manchester rate, and we would rather say that at the start. What makes sense from here is work that either travels as a parcel or is big enough to justify the trip.

A sofa whose seats have gone flat does not have to leave the house. Measure each cushion, send us the sizes and a photo, and we cut new foam to fit, with new covers made if the old ones are worn. Foam, cushions and covers can be posted or couriered anywhere in the UK, which takes the distance out of the question. The same goes for bench seats, window seats and dining chair pads: if the cushion can be measured and boxed, it can come from anywhere in SK10 or SK11 without a van.

Caravans and motorhomes

Macclesfield is on the western edge of the Peak District, with Macclesfield Forest and Tegg’s Nose on its doorstep. A whole sofa or chair from the silk town

Macclesfield grew on silk, and its older streets of mills and weavers’ cottages, around Paradise Mill and up the 108 Steps, are a long way from flat-pack living.
