Sale is about thirty-five minutes from our Stalybridge workshop, on the far side of the M60. We are not the nearest upholsterer to M33, so we lead with what works at that distance: written quotes from photos, new foam and cushion covers to drop off and collect, and a proper recover when the family sofa or dining chairs are worth keeping.

Start with the cushions
In a lot of Sale family homes, the sofa itself is fine and the seats are the problem. Cushions that have gone flat, foam that has crumbled inside the covers, a favourite seat that sags more than the others: these are among the most common jobs in our records, and they are also the easiest to handle from the other side of the M60. Sale is a long drive round the motorway from Stalybridge, but a box of cushions fits in a car boot without any trouble.
Measure the cushions, send photos and tell us how the sofa gets used. We cut new foam to size, wrap it where it needs wrapping, and put it back into your existing covers or into new ones in a fabric you choose. When the whole suite deserves a recover
Sale has a lot of solid inter-war and post-war semis, and the suites bought for them were often better made than their modern replacements. If yours has a hardwood frame and the springs are sound, a full sofa and suite recover gives you a sofa that fits the room exactly, in a new fabric, with new foam throughout. If the frame is chipboard and the joints are going, we will say so and suggest you replace it instead.

In a family room the fabric matters as much as the frame. Ask about rub counts, removable covers and how a cloth copes with children and pets; the showroom at the workshop keeps hard-wearing ranges alongside the softer, more decorative ones, and we will steer you towards something that will still look right in a busy M33 living room years from now.
Dining chairs from M33
Dining chairs are the other job that makes sense from Sale. Drop-in seats can be dropped off at the workshop in a car boot, and a set of six or eight spreads the cost of any collection across every chair. We check the joints, replace the webbing and foam where needed, and recover in a hard-wearing fabric that will stand up to family meals. The dining chair reupholstery page explains the options.
Getting a quote from Sale
Send photos by WhatsApp or through the quote form with your M33 postcode, rough measurements and anything you already know about the fabric you want. You get a written price back, usually the same working day. If you can bring the piece to Stalybridge, the drop-off is free and we can show you fabrics while you are there.

- My sofa cushions in Sale have gone flat. Do you need to see the sofa?
- Usually not. Send photos of the sofa and the cushion measurements, and tell us how firm you want the seats. We cut new foam to size, fit it into your existing covers or make new ones, and the finished cushions are ready to collect from the workshop, so the sofa stays where it is.
- What does collection from Sale cost?
- Sale is inside Greater Manchester, so collection is around £75 + VAT both ways, confirmed in your written quote before we book it. Dropping the piece at the workshop in Stalybridge yourself is free. For cushions and foam alone, dropping them off is normally the better option.
- Is a set of dining chairs from Sale worth the trip?
- A set usually is, because the collection is shared across every chair. Single dining chairs are often back within a week once they are in the workshop. Send a photo of one chair, the number in the set and whether the seats are drop-in or fixed, and we will quote from that.
