Interior designers do not just need an upholsterer who can recover a chair. You need someone who can read the brief, understand why the fabric matters, flag the practical risks early and give you something clear enough to put in front of a client.

Valley Upholstery supports designers, specifiers, FF&E teams and fit-out contractors across Greater Manchester and the North-West. The work often sits inside hospitality, hotel, retail, workplace and leisure projects: banquette seating, booth cushions, bar stools, restaurant chairs, hotel headboards, reception seating, acoustic panels and one-off furniture pieces that need to match the wider scheme.

Upholstery for furniture specifiers

Furniture specifiers get a partner who works to the schedule, not against it. We quote from your drawing pack, FF&E schedule, marked-up plans or seat counts, and we read the spec the way you wrote it: Martindale rub count, backing, cleaning code, foam grade and the correct fire route. If a chosen cloth will not survive the use case, we flag it before money is spent and propose a contract-grade alternative. From our Stalybridge workshop we handle volume runs of dining chairs and loose seating, with PO terms and trade-account billing arranged for procurement. See our dining chair reupholstery for the spec detail.

Boardroom, office and contract seating upholstery

Boardroom upholstery and contract seating need durability that reads as quality. We recover executive and boardroom chairs, reception and breakout seating, and matched runs across a workplace scheme in boardroom upholstery fabric rated for the setting: contract-grade weaves and combustion-modified foam where the building demands it. Colour and texture are matched across the order so a phased fit-out stays consistent from first delivery to last. We supply offices and contract interiors across Tameside, Manchester and the wider North-West, working alongside our office and contract sector clients.

Bespoke contract upholstery and FF&E seating

Bespoke contract upholstery is where a scheme either holds together or falls apart. We build and recover one-off pieces to your drawings: banquette runs, fixed booths, window seats, headboards and statement furniture that has to sit alongside specified loose pieces. Crib 5 and Crib 7 fabric routes are standard for public commercial spaces in the North-West, with certificates supplied for the project file. Our pub seating and banquettes work shows the same fixed-seating craft applied at venue scale.

Samples, visuals and sign-off

We prepare specifier sample packs from our supplier ranges, photograph options together, and suggest practical substitutes where the first choice is out of stock, too delicate, too slow or too expensive for the use case. If you are presenting to a client, we keep the language simple: what it looks like, what it costs, how it wears and whether it passes the required specification. During the build we send workshop progress photos and finished visuals, which is useful on phased venue work across Greater Manchester where not every seat is visible at once. Ask for a pack from the fabrics page.

Upholstery prices for interior designers and specifiers

Upholstery prices for specifiers are always itemised so your client or procurement team can sign off cleanly. As a guide: restaurant or pub chair recover from £38 to £75 plus contract fabric; banquette or booth seating from £180 to £320 per linear metre plus fabric; boardroom or executive chair recover from £90 to £180 plus fabric. We split labour, fabric, foam, fire rating, collection and lead time on every quote – no verbal estimates that move when the invoice lands.

Trade accounts and repeat FF&E orders

Trade upholstery service at Valley means a named contact, agreed PO terms and a consistent fabric and foam spec held across phased rollouts. Some projects come direct from the designer; others through a fit-out contractor, venue owner, facilities manager or procurement team, and we are comfortable with any of those routes. For repeat and multi-site FF&E orders we keep your specification on file so the tenth venue matches the first. From our Stalybridge workshop we deliver to site across Greater Manchester and the North-West, and we do not blur your design role with ours. See our kitchen banquette trade commission for how a repeat trade brief runs.

    Itemised quote

Labour, fabric, foam, fire rating, collection, fitting and lead time are split clearly so your client or procurement team can sign off.

  4. 4

    Approve samples and details

Fabric, trim, piping, buttoning, foam grade and any Crib 5 documentation are agreed before ordering or stripping the existing seating.

  5. 5

    Build, photograph and deliver

We keep the project moving with progress photos where useful, then deliver to site across Greater Manchester, arrange workshop collection or hit your contractor's install window.

Frequently asked

Common questions in interior designers & specifiers.

How long does reupholstery take?
Most domestic projects take two to four weeks from collection to delivery. Caravans usually run two to three weeks. Single dining chairs are often back within a week. We agree the timeline up front and stick to it.
Do you collect and deliver?
Yes. We collect and deliver across Greater Manchester for a small charge. The fee depends on distance and size; we'll confirm it in your quote.
Can I supply my own fabric?
Yes. We're happy to use customer-supplied fabric. We'll calculate the exact metreage you need before you order — including pattern repeats — so you don't end up short. Note: we can't warrant fabric durability on covers we haven't supplied.
Do you supply Crib 5 fire-rated foam and fabric for pubs, restaurants and venues?
Yes. All hospitality, commercial and public-sector work uses combustion-modified foam and fabrics tested to BS 5852 Crib 5 (and Crib 7 where the spec requires it). We provide the test certificates with every quote and again when the job is signed off.
Do you do commercial and hospitality jobs?
Yes. Pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, offices, healthcare, retail, schools, colleges and universities. We work to fire safety regulations (Crib 5 where required) and around your trading hours.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Free, no-obligation quotes by phone, email, in shop or, for larger jobs, on site.
