In scope

What we cover.

  • Backwash and basin chairs: headrest surround, seat and footrest pads
  • Barber chairs and hydraulic styling chairs, seat, back and arm pads
  • Waiting benches, sofas and reception seating
  • Treatment couches, massage beds and nail-bar stools
  • Wipe-clean vinyl and faux leather that stands up to dye, bleach and daily cleaning
  • Colour matched to your brand from a swatch or a photo
  • Collected after close, back for opening where the job allows
  • Crib 5 fabric and certificates for licensed or shared premises

Salon and barber chairs wear out from the middle: the backwash headrest surround cracks, the seat pad splits where the vinyl folds, the footrest scuffs, and the waiting bench goes shiny long before the fittings do. Replacing a chair costs hundreds and puts a new-looking chair next to five tired ones. We recover the pads instead, in a contract vinyl that stands up to dye, bleach, peroxide and the nightly wipe-down, colour-matched to your brand, and we do it for salons, barbers, nail bars and treatment rooms across Greater Manchester from our Stalybridge workshop. Recent work includes backwash chairs recovered from faded pink to a fresh colour, a barber’s chair, a waiting bench for a barber shop, and a play-salon bench for a children’s role-play centre. Send photos via a commercial quote and we will price it from there.

Backwash and basin chairs

Backwash chair reupholstery is the most common salon job. The headrest surround, seat and footrest pads take water, colour and constant cleaning, and the vinyl fails at the seams first. We take the pads off the frame (or the whole chair if the pads are not removable), strip them, replace any foam that has gone hard or collapsed, and recover in a wipe-clean vinyl or faux leather with stitched seams that will not lift. Basin surrounds and neck rests are rebuilt so the client’s head sits where it should.

Barber chairs and styling chairs

Hydraulic barber chairs and styling chairs are heavy, and the seat, back and arm pads are usually bolted on. We recover the pads in matched sets so the row reads as one, in the vinyl colour you want, and we check the seat foam while we are in there. Where a chair has a split base or a loose arm we will tell you before we quote, because a recover on a failing frame is money wasted.

Waiting benches, sofas and reception seating

The waiting area is what a client sees first. We recover waiting benches per metre, and sofas, tub chairs and reception seating in batches, in the same vinyl or a contract fabric that matches your fittings. Fixed benches can be recovered in situ or lifted out in sections. See bench and window seat cushions for made-to-measure bench pads where a joiner has built the seating in.

Treatment couches, massage beds and nail bars

Treatment couches, massage beds, lash beds and nail-bar stools are recovered in wipe-clean vinyl in whatever colour your room runs to. For clinics that need antimicrobial or medical-grade vinyl, or for chiropractic and physio couches, see our healthcare page, which uses the same construction with the clinical fabric specification.

Colour matching your brand

Send a swatch, a brand colour reference or a photo of your fittings and we will match from our vinyl and faux leather ranges, with a sample posted or brought to the salon before anything is cut. Black, white, grey and cream are stocked; brand colours are usually available within a week. If you want a fabric look on the waiting seating and vinyl on the working chairs, we can match the two.

Around your opening days

Most salons are closed one or two days a week, and that is when the work happens. Pads are collected after close and refitted before you open. Where a job needs longer we do the chairs in halves so the floor keeps working, or lend a pad set where we have one that fits. Tell us your opening days and we plan around them.

Fire safety in shared and licensed premises

Where a salon shares a building, sits above a licensed venue or is inspected under a lease, the seating fabric has to pass Crib 5. Our contract vinyls do, and we give you the certificate for your file. Foam is combustion-modified as standard.

What to send for a salon quote

One photo of each chair type, a close-up of the wear, how many of each, your brand colour or a swatch, your opening days and the salon address. Your quote sets out labour, vinyl, foam, collection and return, lead time and VAT.

Working with us

How it works.

  1. 1

    Photos of each chair

One photo of each chair type, the number of each, and a close-up of the worn area. That is enough to price most salon work.

  2. 2

    Colour match

Send a swatch, a brand colour or a photo of the fittings. We match from our vinyl and faux leather ranges and post samples if you want to see them in the room.

  3. 3

    Collect after close

We collect pads or whole chairs after you shut, or you drop them into the Stalybridge workshop.

  4. 4

    Rebuild and recover

Failed foam replaced, pads rebuilt, new vinyl fitted and stitched to take daily cleaning.

  5. 5

    Back for opening

Refitted before you open where the job allows, or in batches so half the chairs are always working.

Frequently asked

Common questions in salons, barbers & beauty.

How long does reupholstery take?
Most domestic projects take two to four weeks from collection to delivery. Caravans usually run two to three weeks. Single dining chairs are often back within a week. We agree the timeline up front and stick to it.
What guarantee do you offer?
Workmanship is guaranteed, with a two-year craftsmanship guarantee on production and contract work. Fabric durability is governed by the supplier's own rub-test rating; we'll explain that when you choose.
Can you match our salon's brand colour on the chairs?
Usually, yes. Send a swatch, a brand colour reference or a photo of your fittings and we match from our contract vinyl and faux leather ranges, then post a sample or bring it to the salon before anything is cut. Black, white, grey and cream are stocked. Brand colours are normally available within a week. The vinyls we use for salons are chosen to take dye, bleach, peroxide and daily wipe-downs without marking.
How long will our salon chairs be out of action?
Most salon and barber work is planned around your closed days. We collect the pads or chairs after you close and refit them before you open where the job allows. Larger sets are done in halves so the floor keeps working. Tell us your opening days when you send the photos and we will give you a return date with the quote.
Do you do commercial and hospitality jobs?
Yes. Pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, offices, healthcare, retail, schools, colleges and universities. We work to fire safety regulations (Crib 5 where required) and around your trading hours.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Free, no-obligation quotes by phone, email, WhatsApp, in shop or, for larger jobs, on site. Unsure how it will look? Send photos of the piece, rough sizes, and the style or fabric you have in mind. We will send a written quote with example looks so you can decide with confidence. Looks are a guide (not a guarantee of exact fabric match); final finish is confirmed in the quote.

Chairs looking tired?

Send a photo of each chair, how many you have and your brand colour. Free quote, usually the same day.
