Static caravan upholsterers since 1978
Static caravans live a harder life than the sofa in your front room. The cushions cop sun through the windows, the foam compresses where the kids pile in, and the fixed seating gets one wet jacket too many. Recovering is almost always cheaper than replacing the unit's seating — and the new fabric and foam will outlast the original.
We've recovered statics on sites across Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumbria as well as our home patch in Greater Manchester. Most jobs are full cushion sets — between 4 and 8 pieces, including a sleeper-conversion bunk. We do plenty of fixed L-seating that can't come out of the caravan; either we recover on site, or template, build in the workshop, and fit on a return visit.
What we cover
- Full cushion sets — typically 4 to 8 pieces, with sleeper conversion if your unit has one
- Fixed L-seating and U-shaped lounges — recovered in situ or templated and refitted
- Bunk cushions and mattress toppers — soft foam for sleeping, firmer for daytime use
- Headboards, scatter cushions and matching pieces
- Touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans and boats — same workshop, same craftsmen
The right foam for the job
We carry every grade we recommend in stock at the workshop. High-resilience (HR40, HR50) for fixed seating that gets daily use. Reflex for back cushions and headboards where firmness counts more than cost. Dryfast open-cell foam for anything that might get damp — bunks against an outside wall, anything near a window vent, marine seating. Combustion-modified (CM) grade where the spec calls for it.
Fabrics that survive the caravan
For day-to-day practicality we recommend Agua's wipe-clean ranges — they look and feel like fabric, but a damp cloth handles spills, pets and grease. For show-quality finish on weekend vans we'll happily fit Sunbury contract weaves, velvet, tweed or wool tartan. Fire-retardant Crib 5 is standard for any unit that's going on a holiday-let or hire fleet.
How long does it take?
Most full cushion sets are back inside 2 to 3 weeks. Fixed L-seating and sleeper conversions usually 3 to 4 weeks because of the templating step. Tell us when your next trip is and we'll plan backwards.

From caravan customers
Real reviews from caravan jobs.
“We ordered some campervan cushion covers and curtains from John at Valley Upholstery and cannot recommend him enough!! If anyone is looking to get some upholstery work done then this is the place to come.”
“Had new foam in our caravan seats — they did such a good job we decided to have new foam in our leather settee and arm chair. What a transformation. It will give us another 10 years. Brilliant. I would recommend Valley for any upholstery work.”
Common questions
Static caravan upholstery — what people ask.
- Can you re-cover a full set of static caravan cushions?
- Yes — full sets are our most common static-caravan job. We'll either work from the existing covers (cleanest result) or template from the foam. Most full sets are ready in 2 to 3 weeks. New foam included where the existing pieces are tired.
- Do you do fixed L-seating that can't be removed from the caravan?
- We can — either by recovering in situ on a site visit, or by templating the seating, building the new covers and foam in the workshop, then fitting them on a return visit. Fixed L-seats and sleeper-converters are quoted on a site visit.
- What fabrics work best for static caravans?
- Caravans live a harder life than house furniture — heat, damp, kids, dogs. We default to wipe-clean Agua ranges (look like fabric, behave like vinyl), or Sunbury contract weaves for show-quality finish. Velvet and tweed are fine for seasonal show vans. We'll match what you've got, or pick from our 12 supplier ranges in the Stalybridge showroom.
- Do you replace the foam at the same time?
- Almost always worth doing. Static caravan foam compresses, especially on bunks that double as day seating. We use high-resilience foam for fixed seating and dryfast (open-cell) foam for any cushions that risk damp. Cut-to-shape included in the cushion price.
- How much does static caravan upholstery cost?
- Indicative ranges: single cushion £45–£95 with foam, full 4–6 piece set £380–£750 plus fabric, full L-seating with sleeper conversion £900–£1,800 plus fabric. Final price depends on fabric metreage and any structural repair. We quote free, no obligation, from photos.
- Do you collect from caravan parks?
- Yes — we cover sites across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire and into Yorkshire and Cumbria. We're used to working around park access rules, drop-off windows, and seasonal closures. Tell us the site, we'll plan around it.
